Child Therapy 5-12

Young children go through a lot of changes very quickly early in life. We can help them (and you) adapt.

Children act out or struggle in school from time to time. Teachers and parents sometimes struggle for an explanation. Young children don't possess the communication skills to tell you why they feel or act the way they do. This is why we have therapy that is designed just for children.

We often forget that children are 'new communicators'. This is why child therapy focuses heavily on communication. During therapy, communication may involve talking, but it could also involve drawing, painting, or just playing. The key here is getting the child to express what is going on.

A child needs to know that we are helping them, not criticizing them. That's why our child therapy starts with creating an environment that doesn't feel like punishment. This means that the parents, the therapist, and the child all come together to become a team that is focused on the child's well being. The child knows that we are all in this together.

The therapy a child gets early in life creates a foundational set of skills that can be used through out life. Children that go through effective therapy experience happier and healthier relationships. They also experience less anxiety and depression as they implement the coping skills they gained early on. We're excited to announce that starting in January 2024, our lineup of groups will expand to include specialized sessions, such as those focused on enhancing social skills and addressing anxiety in children.
